By Road;

• Leave the M6 motorway at Junction 40 (Penrith)
• Take the A66 westbound signposted for Keswick/Workington
• Remain on this road for 19 miles and continue past Keswick
• After Keswick, go straight over the roundabout and stay on A66, continuing past Braithwaite
• After Braithwaite, take the next left turn signposted for Thornthwaite/Gallery
• Continue until you enter Thornthwaite village and take the first left hand turn once in the village, signposted to the Gallery
• Continue round the sharp left hand bend and start going up hill.
• Immediately look out for a gap in the wall on the left with a slate sign that says 'Private'. Turn left into this private road and you will see three properties and a large parking area. Ridgeway is the middle property. 
• There is parking for 2/3 cars adjacent to the cottage. 
• if you reach Thornthwaite Gallery you have gone too far! - simply turnaround and you will find the Private road on your right hand side

• Take the train to Penrith Railway station 
  
• Take the X4/X5 Bus from Penrith station to Keswick. 
• On the X5  - no need to change, the route directly serves Thornthwaite. 
• On the X4 - change buses in Keswick from X4 onto X5 at Keswick bus station 
  
• The nearest bus stop to Ridgeway is just 200 metres from the cottage
